Hardwood Sizes Guide
Most prices shown here are for one 'metric module'; this is a volume measurement, which we use to quickly compare the price of different species and thicknesses of hardwood. A metric module equates to 305mm x 305mm x 25mm, and is the metric equivalent of what we used to refer to as a 'board foot'. (12" x 12" x 1")
With the exception of Keruing, Packs of hardwood are not typically available to us as dimension-sawn boards, (boards cut to a specific thickness and width), instead each parcel of hardwood is usually made up of a single thickness and a single length, but the widths are always random.
Here's a quick guide to the pricing method for, say, an eleven foot length of 6" x 1 1/2" Ash. Take the board foot price (12"x12"x1"-£2.64), multiply by 11 (11'x12"x1"-£29.04), then divide by two (11'x6"x1"-£14.52), and finally multiply by one and a half (11'x6"x1 1/2"-£21.78). This may seem a long-winded method, but necessary when dealing with random sized planks.
The prices given below are for sawn stock, purchased 'boards rising' (This is where you purchase the board as seen). We will sell part boards for smaller projects, but this may incur a surcharge. We are unable to sell part of a board if we are left with a piece shorter than 2.13m(7') or narrower than 152mm (6"). Available thicknesses are detailed below.
